Daily Heroes

Here's two stories about everyday heroes. I just love the fact that it was natural for these people to help and serve and it turned into something amazing and heroic.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/nicu-nurses-saved-babies-remember-harrowing-triumphant-hurricane/story?id=17632993&page=2#.UJnNYsXA8aE

The one about the NICU nurses makes me want to cry but it is so great at the same time. All of the babies from the NICU were safe and the NICU nurses just continued their everyday jobs of saving those precious little babies The other one just makes my heart happy! What a great example for all of us!

That is all for today.

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

It has occurred to me that it was my dad's birthday this week! Not occurred to me, I actually knew the whole time, and promptly called him at like 10 at night. But anyway since it is only right, and I assured him this was an equal opportunity blog I thought I would share some things about my dad, mostly the ways I have become my dad.
#1...I now can sleep pretty much anywhere, and have fallen asleep on the couch multiple times this week.
#2...I listen to Podcasts a lot, and I use to make fun of dad endlessly for listening to anything considered talk radio. (note I no longer mock him when listening to talk radio, I even sometimes tell other people how cool talk radio is.
#3....I know most of his stories by heart and can tell them at the current time in most situations
#4....He taught me everything I know about horses.
#5....He taught me how to enjoy learning new things
#6....He works harder than anyone I know
#7....He is an example to me in what hard work is
#8....He is who calls me when I am having a bad day
#9....He has a knack for talking common sense
#10..He makes all my problems seem very bearable
#11..He always has a solution for me to try when things just aren't going right.
#12..He is absolutely the best storyteller I know
Happy Birthday Dad! I love you!

#1 Reason Why I Love Utah State University

A new school year has started and I finished my second week of class. I happen to be having a great time this semester and I am going to start listing the things about Utah State, my current educational institution. Since I happen to absolutely love being in school, and I happen to be very VERY lucky to be in school, I feel it is only right to tell the world why I love going to Utah State. The #1 reason I love Utah State is because it is a school. That's right I love school! I love English class, I love my Statistics class, I just love school!!! I love learning and I love having the chance to be in college it is just great!!!

Bad Tennis, Shining Armor, Library's and Proverbs

Whew its sure been a while. It's busy around here in the summer and work has been just sort of crazy lately. This week I am packing and getting ready to move out next Friday but I thought I should do a quick post!
Here's some things that have been going on in my life
Bad Tennis-Me and a friend played tennis this morning, it was a blast and a great workout, we are not quite to Olympic level yet, but I imagine that will come any day now.
Shining Armor-A great neighbor of mine was totally my knight Relief Society President in Shining Armor, she invited me over after I found myself in a vacated apartment.
Library's-I recently started going to the library like all the time, sometimes I get DVD's sometimes I get books, sometimes I read books off my GoodReads list of like 300 books (go to goodreads.com, it keeps tracks of books you want to read and helps you pick out good ones!), anyway it is just so fun. There is just something so magical about picking up a new book and leaving reality behind as you read a good book!
Proverbs-Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  This scripture repeats in my head every time I start to stress about the future. At least we know someone's got it handled!
That is all!

More Awkward

That awkward moment when someone adds you on Facebook and then you see them in real life

Let me explain! I met this kid the other day and then later I received a friend request from this said person. The following day I saw that person in real life. And I was tempted to comment on the fact that we were officially friends, thanks to making our friendship Facebook official, but that's awkward, so now we have a dual friendship one on Facebook that allows me to stalk and look at all the pictures ever posted and one that requires actual human interaction and that is an actual friendship. For this reason, I rarely friend people on Facebook, but if you friend me, be assured I will look at all the great or not so great pictures of you!

So....there you have it, I have a phobia of Facebook friendships and I stalk people on Facebook, what else are you suppose to do!

That Awkward Moment When...

I decided I needed to record some of the crazy awkward or everyday awkward moments that happen to me!
Here's the first one...
At first it just looks like a couch, a picture of my boots, and maybe someone on a laptop in the distance and then you zoom in...
That awkward moment when you work on your laptop, like this, in public.

Reminder

Apparently at some point within the last week I left myself a note to write a blog post, I am guessing I probably had some stellar ideas, and funny comments to say in that post but I didn't write any details on that....so now I am stuck writing a non witty post to get rid of the sticky note!  Apparently it had something to do about staying positive....? hmm, I am sure that will come up! A note about the missionaries also, the sister missionaries that is, we took a picture together when they came over to chat. I will post that sometime. And for friends and family, they have been my greatest strength the past little while! I have received positive thoughts, and prayers, and great phone calls and invitations to have a great time! My bird is quite content, and thrilled to be living life to the fullest! Everyday is a new day with exciting things, and always something to learn. Here is the scripture picture I saw on Facebook, totally describes my thoughts after a great night of studying my scriptures.
p.s. if you are looking for some things to really make your scripture study more meaningful try http://www.theredheadedhostess.com/   currently I am adding in her title pages for the old testament, so helpful!

And here is quote I found that just sums up things pretty perfectly

Also here is a little quote I have in my room, I absolutely love this and can tell you that work, and service are the greatest things and are both things that I do to help me with all the craziness of life.

Sorry picture overload, well that satisfies the positive thinking, now I can get rid of that sticky note on my computer. The others will stay, a list of new music I want, books to read for trek this summer, and a very exciting sticky note about classes I need to take, but that is a different post! Whew kind of a spacey/random/throw up of words kind of post but just smile and nod, this is my blog after all!

One Friend, Two Friends, Red Friend, Blue Friend

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Here is a birthday tribute to this great man! And because a Dr. Seuss book will always be on my shelves (and when I say always, I mean always, there is one in my room as we speak!)
Here is a little post about the people in my life and all that they mean to me! My friends, my great teachers, my wonderful family....

Some of my friends you could say we were like thing one and thing two!...

...We get together, maybe cause a little trouble, and we are always found giggling and having a jolly time!

Some of the greatest people in my life are just like Horton...

...They let me talk about my dreams and my ideas, and they encourage me to do my best at everything, even though I sometimes feel like the little spec!

Sometimes I feel like the people are just like Wockets in Pockets, they just keep showing up to help me along, or maybe even give me a good challenge!

Some people are like Mr. Brown, challenging me to try new things, and maybe end up in a little bit stuck, or some are teaching me willpower and helping me think up all the places I might go!

Oh, the Places You'll Go! - Dr. Seuss

Here's a great quote from Dr. Seuss

Have a great! And hopefully you had your green eggs and ham for breakfast!

Life

Here is a review of the last couple of weeks, the good, the bad, the ugly, the awkward, the really really exciting!
Went to the DMV, three times in one day (the information they require you to have its ridiculous), first went home before I even got in line because I knew what I forgot, then went back and was told I needed more information, got sort of grumpy with the guy at the DMV, went home got more information, came back, the guy said "oh you are back," I awkwardly had to say that I was, then had to take the written test, only missed two, finished things on my to do list, had an interview and didn't get the job, pretty rough day, cried on the way home, listened to music too loud in my car, called a good friend, talked on the phone, learned about Heavenly Father's plan for me, continued my other job with resilience, got sick, coughing, not sleeping, and drinking shots of orange juice, listened to way too much Pandora, was annoyed and listened to loud music again, moped maybe just a little and just kept truckin along, one week later got a call for a second interview, went into the interview, sounded like a hard core chain smoker thanks to this serious cough, totally got the job!!!!, slept in all weekend, and tried to recover, the sweetest Relief Society girls offered me anything and everything when they found out I was sick, one even offered to sing to me! <3, finished a bottle of orange juice in a day, started and caught up on way too many TV shows, called my mom, called my mom some more, cleaned the bathroom really good, my sister stopped by with some goodies! pretty much decided on a new career choice, a new path that is really exciting (post for another day), hid in my room, read some good books, had some pretty awesome scripture study, went to institute and had some great lessons, cried some more, put off doing laundry, slept in, went to my new job orientation! got really really excited for my new job, got ready to make some other changes, couponed at Smith's, left my Vitamin Water in my car, only to get them out this morning and have them be perfect drinking temperature!, got more to dos done, and now I am just relaxing.

Watched this video and teared up a little, her horse died last week, it was sad, never get tired of this video though, so great!

Listened to some of my favorite songs...

Through it all, I was able to see how blessed I am, I have a great family, amazing friends, an amazing job, and  an exciting new job that will help me learn so much, I have a loving Heavenly Father who listens to my prayers and who loves me and helps me along the way. I have a great life and am so privileged to live the great life that I do!!! The little birdy thought he had cold french fries, then realized he had a supersized bag of french fries straight from the fryer!!! (:

Bad Day

So let's face it not everyday is filled with things that make me happier than a bird with a french fry.
Some days are sort of like this.....
or maybe like this....
*note this is Kayla's arm in Washington DC, right after a bird pooped on her*

Although there are some days like above, or little things in my life that make me feel like the images above, if I think really hard I can always think about something that makes me happier than a bird with a french fry.......although sometimes I have to think really hard to find things that are good, little tiny things to keep me positive....being positive is so essential. Here is my list of things that help me remember to stay positive and remember to be happier than a bird with a french fry...

What makes me happier than a bird with a french fry
.....Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band in concert, darn good stuff!!!.....
.....wearing rings on your fingers, and feeling fancy when you type........
.....wearing really cute jeans.......
.....feeling confident.......
.....making progress.......

......All these things that make me happier than a bird with a french fry are just a small portion of all the good things in my life! My bird who eats french fries has gained a few pounds and by golly he is strutting his stuff! (in no way or form is the bird of my blog referring to me or anyone else I know, please just picture a bird, a real one, the kind that eats french fries, you know the hoppy kind).

Back and Forth Times 4

What makes me happier than a bird with a french fry...
.....going home to my family....
.....seeing my sister baptized!...
.....having a really great job.....

Thanks to the holidays and family events I have been traveling somewhat obsessively! Here's a summary of my mileage in my poor car!
Logan and my house are approximately 314 miles apart, pie really! (Please pick up on my math joke!) Since Thanksgiving I have traveled home 4 different times....628 miles round tip...times that by four=2,512 miles! My Ford Escort, Puff the Magic Station Wagon is a beast! Thanks to my new job, and luckily spending the holidays at home I have crossed the Idaho/Utah border 10 something times since Thanksgiving. Its great fun!

Me and my sister Gracie-her in her baptism dress!
